    Enables G protein-coupled receptor activity and dopamine neurotransmitter receptor activity, coupled via Gs. Involved in modification of postsynaptic structure and regulation of synaptic vesicle exocytosis. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including central nervous system development; learning or memory; and modulation of chemical synaptic transmission. Located in several cellular components, including GABA-ergic synapse; dendritic spine; and glutamatergic synapse. Is integral component of presynaptic membrane. Is integral component of postsynaptic membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; integumental system; and sensory organ. Used to study Huntington\'s disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hypertension and kidney failure. Orthologous to human DRD1 (dopamine receptor D1).
